Vintage Stained Glass Cartoons for sale
These beautiful original architectural drawings are from the Jacoby Art Glass Company in St. Louis, Missouri circa 1893-1970. The Jacoby Studio was renowned for their Munich-style leaded windows. In this style, painting was heavily used throughout the panels. Cartoons (the stained glass industry term for full size working drawings) would be created by the designers in full detail. A glass painter would then place each piece of glass on these detailed drawings to replicate the design. A third person, the fabricator, would then complete the windows. See the window creation process in this video by the Jacoby Art Glass Company.
The exquisite details of these drawings along with the architectural notes make these truly unique works of art suitable for framing.

About stained glass cartoons:
Cartoon is the industry term for full-size detailed drawings. The cartoons provide the artistic design and may also have notes about color, shading, structural supports, job numbers, locations, etc. These cartoons are about 70 years old and a certain amount of wear and tear is expected. We point out the more obvious issues, such as frayed edges and missing corners. Many tears were repaired with archival tape and such repairs are not specifically pointed out. Some original repairs were left. Further cleaning is possible.
The provided pictures should be studied carefully before purchase. These cartoons are sold as-is and we do not accept returns. We encourage you to use the zoom in feature to read some of the notes and inspect the condition. The pictures on the website provide the following views for the main portion of a window:
